These dogs and their owner have been sleeping rough in Wellington for a year.
Despite approaching KiP and Telford & Wrekin Council, they are all doomed to be outside over the Christmas period.
Two weeks before Christmas, Wellington Town Council have thrown out a motion asking Telford & Wrekin Council to look into the matter urgently. The meeting ended with wine and mince pies.
Meanwhile the man in question faced another night outside on what was one of the coldest nights of the year.
A member of People First has filmed what faces people with disabilities when trying to use Wellington Train Station.
Disabled users face a half mile trip round the station, some pavements not lowered and some pavements too narrow to use. The toilet is not allowed to be used when staff are not on the platform (after 1pm every day).
Is this acceptable?
Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust are proposing to increase car parking charges. The charges will increase to £2.50 for one hour to £4.00 for four hours.
People First say this is a tax on the poor and the sick and is unfair. The govt seems more concerned about reducing the higher rate of tax for the rich whilst starving cash and privatising our hospitals.
CP-Plus, the company managing the hospital car parks took £546,000 from Shropshire patients last year, whilst the trust received £787,000.
People First will be writing to the Chief Executive of Telford Hospital, and will be setting up a petition.
Following complaints from members of the public, we recently undertook a patient survey at Wellington Medical Practice.
Results showed that:
- almost half (47%) were not able to book in advance
- well over half (67%) thought that the booking system was poor or very poor
- 60% were not sure, or would not recommend the practice.
We have met with the management at the practice and will be conducting another survey in September.
Some members of the group can be seen (right) conducting the survey outside the practice.
We have been approached by a Telford pensioner concerned about the increase in home help fees. Home help fees in Telford & Wrekin are increasing from £8 to £12 an hour.
