People First have been contacted by a Telford pensioner concerned that home help fees are rising, from £8 to £10 and then to £12 an hour. This will possibly lead to more pensioners being unable to afford their help at home which ultimately could lead to more pensioners have to rely on residential care - something which will be more expensive for the Council than assisting with home help.
We are trying to find out more by contacting organisations for more information. We will then be contacting Telford & Wrekin Council.
We will be publishing the results of our findings. In the meantime, if you or you know someone who relies on home help but will have trouble affording it, or will reduce the hours they receive home help due to costs, please get in touch with us.
